It was an Olave shoulder into the back of Lenhart, How can you possibly disagree with that? Jason and Simon got it right, so did the ref. Sorry Coach Cries.
exactly…and how did the ref call it when he was 40 yds away and no one, not even the crowd was screaming for a foul?
Yes, Lenhart went down extremely easily, but it is still a red. There was illegal contact by the defender, and from where the ref was standing, that is going to be called every time.
That seems ridiculous. Straight red cards are given for malicious fouls. You can tell when a foul is on purpose. And it is hard and dangerous to try and slip and still foul. Let them take more acting lessons (they already do… Lenhart is great at it), it will end with them getting hurt.
Yeah, we didn’t start the series until then. But there’s never a shortage of controversy in soccer, so we should have enough to keep you going all season.

I’m not seeing anything earlier than week 4, which is a bummer cuz I would have liked to get a second look at the Rev’s McCarthy red-card against Sporting KC and the non-call in their FC Dallas game when last man Ihemelu took down Guy. I would also have liked an outside take on the foul that led to Joseph’s suspension.
Awesome! Can I recommend putting the “Instant Replay” moniker at the front of each video’s title so that they’re easier to locate on a search? This should definitely be a weekly feature going forward.
Glad you enjoy it. We’ve done about 4 or 5 so far. Check back every Tuesday or Subscribe to the channel and you’ll get it every week.
Here’s a playlist for the rest of them:

Lenhart ‘helping’ Olave keep up with him? That’s like a scooter helping a Ferrari keep up with it.
Lenhart clearly initiates the contact. Either he was shielding, so no call, or he was trying draw a foul because he knew he could not outrun the juggernaut.
Clear red card on Olave… shoulder into Lenhart’s back. Lenhart grabs his shorts but that does not excuse illegal contact from behind.
RSL fans are whiny nutjobs.
I love this. This needs to be a regular series like the Goal and Saves of the week. I may not agree with all of the conclusions here on made on the field, but I love the effort to try and shed light on the decision making each week.

lenhart
NO PK was deserved on the play, he dove trying to even get a touch on the ball. im glad Saunders stopped that shot…they did not deserve to tie the game on that idiocy
Olave may have fouled Lenhart, but how can you know that when Lenhart has a handful of Olave’s shorts? Man did those shorts stretch!
THIS TIME I think Lenhart legitimately got fouled…but it’s no surprise to see this guy falling, if you know what I mean. Lenhart is a dirty…dirty player. If I were the ref I probably would’ve not given red just knowing what kind of player he is. That’s the ref job, is it not? To know the players?
Steven Lenhart has made such a reputation for himself, I can’t possibly believe it should have been a red card. It’s gotten to the point where I have to assume he’s cheating when I see a call that’s even somewhat close.
I hate RSL but Lenhart cheated again.
Unfortunately we can’t cover every play because of time constraints and we felt the broadcast covered that play both thoroughly and fairly. In case you were wondering, we (Simon and I) say, no PK.

It’s Simon doing this, don’t be surprised
I was just watching it in slow motion on MLS live, and Lenhart defiantly reached across Olave before any contact was made. Now why would he do this? Because it is what he does! As for the commentator change, Simon was the one on exrtatime radio who thought it was a foul. So much for a group effort. Also the description says: “Simon Borg breaks down the most controversial plays…”
How was the foul from the LA v Colorado game not in here? I know there wasn’t a red card but it was a very controversial call.
The thing is, whether it is a slip or not, it is still a red card. When they start reducing it to a yellow if a player “slipped is when players start taking acting classes to make it look like everything was a “slip”.
I strongly disagree with you. not necessarily on the commentator change would do the difference (notice how he says we for everything showing it was a group effort) but Lenhart was pushed a reached back for balance. Lenhart had position on Olave and nobody in their right mind would grab somebody to help him keep up with you. that just doesn’t make sense.
