Barcelona Femini skipper Alexia Putellas has been named the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year for this year after a stellar season for his club. The Spaniard showed why she’s one of the best players in womens soccer at Barcelona Femeni last season after he bagged the Golden Boot in the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL).

Putellas scored 11 times for Barcelona Femeni on the way to the UWCL final last season. However, she was unable to prevent her team from losing to French side Lyon in the final. Putellas and Barcelona Femeni failed to emerge as the best womens soccer team in Europe for the second successive year. Barcelona Femeni lost the UWCL final last season as defending champions.
